During this period, he has covered mining from both the technology and investment side, interviewing almost every type of mining stakeholder. He has visited mining operations – underground and on surface – across four continents, observing many technical and technological innovations. He and the team at International Mining Events have leveraged this experience in the production of The Electric Mine conference series. Industrial Engineer and Mining Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry, developed between Chile and Australia. His career has focused on leading and implementing emerging technologies, particularly automation, mechanization, electrification and systems to advance towards sustainability in open pit mines.

Mechanical Engineer specialized in mining, Renan has almost 10 years of experience in the sector. He currently holds the position of Mining Specialist at the Operational Control Center of the Cuiabá Mine, owned by AngloGold Ashanti. Since 2022, he has been focused on technology-related initiatives, responsible for the project of the first battery-powered electric loader in underground operations in Brazil, launched in March 2024. In addition to his operational role, Renan has experience in mine infrastructure, ventilation, and process optimization in underground operations.

Gonzalo Ramírez is a Civil Mechanical Engineer with postgraduate degrees in Mechatronic Systems and Innovation. He has worked in various industries, always addressing the challenges of sustainability, technology, and business. He has over 15 years of experience developing innovation in the copper value chain. Currently, he serves as the Director of Operational Decarbonization at CODELCO. He is responsible for leading the entire portfolio of operational decarbonization initiatives for the company, ensuring the implementation of the decarbonization strategy and scaling technologies that enable CODELCO to be a pillar of sustainable development in Chile and the world.

Javier Ruiz-del-Solar is a distinguished professor of electrical engineering at the Universidad de Chile, where he has dedicated more than 25 years to academic research. In addition to his role as a professor, he is the founding director of the Executive Director of the Advanced Mining Technology Center and head of its Automation Group. Peter’s extensive experience also includes seven years as Technology Research Manager at Volvo Construction Equipment, where he managed the research portfolio and developed key technologies within the construction and mining sectors. With a Master’s and Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Mälardalen University, Peter has managed numerous research projects and served on various academic boards across Sweden. Daniel has a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology and has joined several development projects in the field of truck electrification. Before joining Boliden, he held a position as Product Manager for plug-in hybrid trucks at Scania.Daniel Olsén is a Senior Development Engineer & Project Manager at Boliden, supporting the areas of electrification and automation within underground mining operations. Currently, he is leading and assisting various research and implementation projects in the scope of battery-electric loaders and trucks, mine electrification and automation systems.

Alex Peiffer is the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Intramotev, a St. Louis-based manufacturer of self-propelled battery-electric railcars. He is an adjunct professor in the Entrepreneurship department at St. Louis University Chaifetz School of Business and holds an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. Previously, he held brand management and marketing roles with large global companies including Nestle and Unilever, and served six years in the US Air Force in air cargo logistics.

Lucca Machado studied Business Administration in London, before starting at U&M in 2020 focused on the company’s project to create the first lithium-ion battery retrofit kit for a 200-ton truck as its coordinator. He is part of the third generation of the family business, trying to carry on the legacy of boldness and innovation.

Katherine (Katie) Beardslee is a dedicated and innovative Digital Mine Engineer at Carmeuse Lime & Stone. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

Katie’s professional journey is marked by her passion for disruptive technology and innovation. She excels in leveraging datasets to enhance site efficiency, safety, and production. Her work is pivotal in shaping the future of mining, ensuring that the industry evolves with cutting-edge advancements.

Currently, Katie is collaborating with Intramotev to retrofit 1970’s side-dump rail cars into electric autonomous vehicles. This project aims to revolutionize material transportation from quarry to port, showcasing her commitment to sustainable and forward-thinking solutions in mining.

Michael Lewis is Senior Director at Komatsu Mining, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is co-lead of the Decarbonization and Electrification Group which is responsible for developing solutions to accelerate mine decarbonization. Prior roles within Komatsu Group include leadership roles in Engineering, Autonomy, Sales & Marketing, Brazil Business Unit, and Mining Services. Prior to joining Komatsu, Mr Lewis held a variety of roles at both Barrick Goldstrike and INCO Mines Research. He is also currently serving as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Queen’s University – Ingenuity Labs Research Institute.

Dana Cartwright, Senior Manager, Climate & Innovation, works across multiple programmes in ICMM’s innovation portfolio, including the Innovation for Cleaner, Safer Vehicles (ICSV) initiative, climate change, health & safety, and tailings innovation.
Dana started her career in environmental regulation in the United States, before moving to the oil and gas industry where she gained significant experience in social performance, environment, health and safety roles in complex operating environments, as well as corporate roles managing climate and sustainability risk, assurance, and disclosures for various frameworks. She holds a strong belief that collaboration, innovation and multidisciplinary perspectives are the key to addressing today’s most pressing environmental and sustainability challenges.

Ann has 20 years’ experience in the resources sector, in both mining and offshore oil and gas. 14 of those years have been spent with BHP, spanning across maintenance, operations and project delivery. Ann has been a long tenure manager for our mining operations and held leadership positions in areas including rail, remote operations, engineering and NPI. Most recently Ann was the Fixed Plant Maintenance Manager for our Newman Operation. Holding tertiary qualifications in engineering and commerce, as well as having completed her MBA.

Electrical Engineer and MSc in Operations Management specialising in driving commercial operations and project development within strategic resource teams. Within BHP, he has overseen and participated in key infrastructure projects for the business, such as the Kelar Power Plant, the Caitan Desalination Plant, and the renewable power supply strategy in Chile and Canada. Currently responsible of leading the regional operational decarbonisation portfolio, seeking to identify opportunities across assets to accelerate plans.

Brian R. Weller is the Vice President of Electrification for Caterpillar’s Resource Industries segment.
Since joining Caterpillar in 1986, Weller has primarily focused on product development for engines and machines, as well as held assignments in marketing and operations. He has held positions as product manager for Building Construction Products Telehandlers in Leicester, United Kingdom, and Large Track-Type Tractors in East Peoria, Illinois. From 2007 until 2015, Weller served as Director of Engine Design responsible for the development and implementation of Caterpillar’s Tier 4 engine program – the largest R&D program in the company’s history. He then became the Chief Engineer of Caterpillar’s Surface Mining & Technology division and served as the technical subject matter expert providing mentorship and leadership to product groups. He was previously the General Manager of Wheeled-Products Systems and Components Value Chain before being named vice president of Electrification for the Resource Industries segment.

Gertjan Bekkers serves as the Vice President, Mines Technical Services at Torex Gold Resources. A seasoned mining executive, he brings broad experience in senior technical and operational leadership roles from across a diverse range of open-pit and underground mining operations, encompassing both precious and base metals.

His extensive on-the-ground knowledge equips him to lead initiatives spanning from strategic planning to operational excellence. He is particularly dedicated to the safe and efficient implementation of mining operations technology, underpinned by his Six Sigma Black Belt certification.

Before joining Torex in 2021, Gertjan held senior positions at Newmont and Glencore. He holds a Master’s degree in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Joaquín graduated as a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, going on to earn a PhD in Law from the Universidad de Navarra. He is an Executive President of Consejo Minero and Director of Salfacorp, Salmones Camanchaca, Marsh McLennan Chile and Fundación Patrimonio Cultural de Chile. In addition, he is member of the boards of Corporación Alta Ley, Compromiso Minero, Consejo de Competencias Mineras and Consejo Activa of Larraín Vial. He has an extensive background in the private business sector, as a board member and advisor for companies in the sanitary, shipping, financial, engineering and construction sectors.

James Oliver grew up in the cane fields of Mackay, where early exposure to heavy equipment and industrial problem solving shaped his hands-on approach to innovation. A mechanical engineer with a passion for practical design, continuous improvement and real-world solutions, he has spent his career engineering and leading step-change technologies that drive productivity, safety and sustainability for some of the world’s largest companies.

Thad Litkenhus is a Vice President of Product Management in Caterpillar’s Resource Industries segment. He is currently responsible for the Mining Electrification portfolio focused on delivering electrification solutions across a broad array of Caterpillar mining customer needs. Thad has over 27 years of industry experience across product and technology development, quality, product support, NTI and NPI, as well as machine platform and service solutions introductions. Thad’s experiences span agricultural, construction, power systems and mining industries, which has afforded substantial international engagement and learning opportunities.
Thad has served in a multitude of positions in the drivetrain, power systems and electrification domains as well as product management positions in Large Mining Trucks and Electrification. Previous assignments also included Global Technical Manager responsibility for Electric Drive Systems and Components development as well as the Energy & Transportation Power Systems arenas for Marine, Oil &Gas and Electric Power electronics. Thad has been involved in Electric Drive technology innovation since serving as the NPI Program Manager for Caterpillar’s first-of-its-kind D7E Electric Drive track type tractor.

Zach Bergman is a battery specialist who has worked on a wide variety of technologies helping to launch and develop new battery materials and products. Currently he is responsible for the growth of the global market for Niobium Anode Active Materials (AAM) at CBMM, the world’s largest producer of Niobium products. He and his team focus on supporting multiple partner companies to promote their different niobium-based anode technologies to develop markets where their ultra-fast charging capability, extremely long life and high power density can create the most value for various applications around the world.

Previously Zach held commercial roles at Powall, a Dutch startup where he drove their growth into the battery materials industry, establishing a market to coat battery active materials with their novel thin film nano coating technology. He also worked as a Business Development Manager for Johnson Matthey Battery Materials where he was responsible for managing product development and qualification of both high nickel and LFP Cathode Active Materials (CAM) for large global cell manufacturers.

Zach is currently based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and holds an Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath in the UK, where he is from.

Gregg Walraven is the Senior Manager of Product Management at Komatsu’s Surface Haulage Business Unit (SHBU) in Peoria, IL. With nearly 18 years of experience at Komatsu, Gregg has held a variety of roles across the organization, bringing a deep understanding of the company’s products, operations, and customer needs. His leadership in product management plays a key role in driving innovation & decarbonization, while optimizing value across Komatsu’s Surface Haulage mining solutions.

Allen graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Mining Engineering (1990) and later obtained his M.B.A. from Penn State. Allen’s GE career began in 1988 on the co-op program. In 1990, he moved to the Excavator Application Team, focusing on Power Distribution System analysis for electric rope shovel and dragline installations. In 1992, he became Product Design Engineer responsible for DC machines for the mining industry. In 1995, he led an NPI for AC Mill Duty motors and was appointed as the Excavator Team’s Sales and Marketing leader in 1997. Allen moved to GETS OHV Systems Engineering Team in 1998. In 2004, Allen was selected as the OHV Systems Engineering Leader and added the GE Transportation Rotating Equipment Team to his responsibilities in 2006. In 2008, Allen was chosen to lead the formation of the Marine & Stationary Systems Engineering Team and in 2010 was named Manager of the Mining Engineering Team to lead Electrification advancement. Allen was appointed to his current position as Wabtec’s Vice President Technology – Mining Systems in 2019. Ratna Kanth Dittakavi is the Global Sales Manager for ABB eMine™, a pioneering portfolio dedicated to advancing sustainable mining through electrification. With a strong foundation as an Electrical and Electronics Engineer from Nagarjuna University, Ratna Kanth brings over 23 years of expertise in fleet electrification technologies, automation systems (Distributed Control Systems) and cybersecurity in operational technology. With Alex’s background as a Red Seal Licensed Electrician, Alex was MacLeans first BEV technician. In almost 10 years with MacLeans, Alex has served in numerous departments helping build, test, train, deploy and support the over 100 Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) across the globe. Brett Allan brings over 30 years of experience in the heavy industry sector, with a deep background spanning mining, rail, and civil infrastructure. Currently serving in a global leadership role at Hitachi Construction Machinery, Brett focuses on advancing strategic relationships and driving value across the mining value chain.

His career reflects a strong asset owner’s perspective, with hands-on expertise in equipment maintenance, asset reliability and remanufacturing. Tom is professional engineer who has over 39 years’ experience in design and project management related to mining and minerals processing projects.

During his long carrier Tom was involved in design, execution and start up, amongst others, of Hillside Aluminium Smelter, Coega in South Africa, Zinc refinery, Skorpion Zinc in Namibia, Impala Platinum No 20 shaft in South Africa, Styldrift 1 shaft and Bakubung Platinum mine projects in South Africa.

Tom also provided a consulting and strategic advisory service to many of south Africa’s blue chip mining houses.
Together with its strategic partners Tom was pioneer in introduction of 1st Extra Low Profile Diesel Dozer to the South African mining industry in 2003.
From 2008 to date Tom is actively involved in development and promotion of DOKING Narrow Reef Battery Powered Equipment including NRE Dozer, Drill Rig and Support, which is able to operate in mines with low seems (0.9 to 1.7 m wide) and slopes less than 30 deg.

Marc-André is the founder and CEO of Grivix, a technology leader in high-power charging solutions for electric heavy-duty vehicles in mining. With over 15 years of experience at the intersection of robotics, energy systems, and sustainable engineering, Marc-André has pioneered innovations that enable ultra-fast, megawatt-level charging—reducing downtime and accelerating the shift to all-electric mining operations.
At Grivix, he leads the development of cooled cable systems and autonomous robotic chargers designed to deliver currently up to 6 MW of power safely and efficiently. These technologies are tailored for the demanding environments of open-pit and underground mines, offering unmatched flexibility and setup speed compared to traditional infrastructure like overhead catenaries or pantographs.

Marc-André is also a key contributor to the R-MCS whitepaper, developed with CharIN and ICMM, defining the future standards for rapid mining vehicle charging. Patrick Murphy is President of Rotary Drilling Division at Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, a leading drilling equipment and solutions provider for surface mining globally. Patrick joined Sandvik in 2001 and has held several positions in the company within multiple business units and locations including Canada, Australia, India, Finland and the USA. He holds degrees in mining and mechanical engineering, from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada, and an MBA from the University of Toronto. He is a licensed professional engineer in Australia and Canada. Patrick lives in Gainesville, Florida.

Claudio Toro-Salazar has been a leader in technology for Mining and Mineral Processing for more than three decades and brings expertise in industrial technology and strategic business development. Claudio joined ABB in October 2024 from MineSense Technologies Ltd where he served as Executive Vice President of Business Development. Before he worked at Aspen Technology Inc, where he built and led their Global Mining and Metals business. Prior to AspenTech, Claudio was the Commercial Director – Head of Americas for GE Digital Mine, where he drove strategic market development and business development. He also served ABB as Vice President of Mining and Metals for Latin America for eight years.
Claudio holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria – Chile and an MBA in Marketing from the Max M. Fisher School of Business – Ohio State University.

Nic Beutler holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Today, he has global responsibility for the creation of fleet decarbonization solutions. Core to his role is leading the development of technology solutions to support the transition from fossil fuel to electric transportation.
Nic was instrumental in the development of the ABB eMine™ framework of methods and solutions, launched in September 2021 to support the mining industry through its energy transition. The solutions are leveraged to design and shape the mine of the future and embed these into the power distribution network. Previously he worked as a Senior Lead Engineer for integrated electrical, control & instrumentation solutions for ore processing plants.

Andrew Elsen is a Senior Product Manager at Komatsu Mining, based in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. He is the lead in the integration of stationary charging solutions for the Komatsu Mining product portfolio and is a part of the larger Decarbonization and Electrification Group that is responsible for developing solutions to accelerate mine decarbonization. Andrew’s prior roles include programme manager for heavy off-road electrification with Shell, engineering roles in US submarine construction and development for General Dynamics, commercial nuclear consulting, and the United States Naval Undersea Warfare Center. He is also pursuing a doctorate program with University of Rhode Island as a practitioner scholar in business administration.
Mr. Elsen holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Master of Public Administration, both from the University of Rhode Island.

Bringing over 23 years of experience in the mining industry, Noe has led several projects across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

A seasoned leader, he has held key roles at Grupo Penoles, Emerson Process Management, General Electric, Minera Boleo, and Woodgrove Technologies, driving innovation and operational excellence in automation and control systems
for several Mining companies such as Vale, BHP, Anglo American, Agnico Eagle, Barrick, Lundin, Capstone, Newmont, Fresnillo PLC, KORES Resources, ENFI China, among others.

David Jacques joined MacLean Engineering in 2001 after graduating from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Management Science. David began his career in hydraulic and mechanical design roles and progressed through more responsible supervision and management positions within the engineering department as well as leading teams on several large new product development projects.
As Vice President of Engineering, David is responsible for the engineering teams who carry out the design, continuous improvement, and customer support of all products offered by MacLean and works closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations counterparts as part of the executive team.

Aaron Lambert is a mining professional and entrepreneur with over 18 years of industry experience. Reinaldo Arreaza is Vice President of Mining Equipment at Wabtec Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for managing the business operations of the company’s mining equipment. He is a leader in operational and commercial execution while providing world-class service and operational excellence to customers.
Arreaza has been with Wabtec and its legacy company GE Transportation for 27 years. His previous roles include Vice President of Field Services and Maintenance Management, supporting CSX Transportation, and Service Director of GE Mining, where he worked to bring the locomotive service model to the mining business.

Earlier in his career with the company, Arreaza held several positions as Executive Service Manager in charge of profit and loss centers located in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. A graduate of General Electric’s Operations Management Leadership Program, he also held positions in contracting, operations, and facilities, and he was a Six Sigma Master Black Belt for the Global Services Organization.

Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Arreaza moved to the United States where he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Adriana and three dogs.

Julio Díaz is a Civil Mining Engineer from the University of Chile. He has a successful career in the global mining industry, leading operations and projects in the copper sector. He has led large-scale investment projects and operated mines in major copper mining companies. He has served as General Manager on several occasions. Within Codelco, he has been Chief Innovation Officer, General Manager of the Radomiro Tomic Division, and currently serves as Vice President of Mining Resources, Development, and Innovation. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the optimal use of resources for the world’s leading copper producer, developing new projects, and leading the change and innovation processes that will allow CODELCO to remain a leading company for the next 50 years.

Mark Hutchinson commenced with Fortescue in July 2022 and became global Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fortescue’s green energy arm, now Fortescue Energy, in August 2022, reporting directly to the Executive Chairman and Fortescue Board. Mark’s focus as CEO is to drive growth in Fortescue’s energy business, including its green hydrogen and green technology development. Alejandra Vial serves as the Vice President of Sustainability at Antofagasta Minerals, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. She brings over 30 years of experience in the fields of sustainability, environmental management, occupational health and safety, government and community relations, and corporate communications.
Ms Vial has held senior executive and leadership positions in prominent mining companies, including Codelco, Barrick Gold, and Antofagasta Minerals, where she previously held the role of Corporate Environmental Manager prior to assuming the newly established position of Vice President of Sustainability. She oversees the corporate departments of Environment, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and Sustainability Performance.
In addition to her executive responsibilities, Ms Vial serves as a board member of Acción Empresas, the Chilean representative of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Tommi is New Technology Strategy Manager at Sandvik’s Load & Haul division. He has worked extensively with Sandvik’s electrification strategy and with new technologies related to the shift to electric mining. Tommi holds a M.Sc. in industrial engineering and management, and previous to Sandvik worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Mike has been building teams that build high performance battery powered machines for 11 years. The journey started in 2014 as co-founder of an electric superbike development & racing team that dominated the ’14/’15/’16 Australian championship. Mike is a mechanical engineer and businessman, he and the team at Switch are focussed on developing hybrid retrofits for industrial machines with the primary objective of improving the commercial performance of existing fleets.

Brian Huff is the Vice President of New Technologies for Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions’ Load and Haul Division. He co-founded and was Chief Technology Officer of Artisan, a manufacturer of battery-electric mining equipment, before it was acquired by Sandvik and became a part of the Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions Load and Haul Division. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California Davis and has over 25 years of hands-on experience with a wide variety of advanced electric vehicle programs.

William Hughes has been working in the mining industry as an engineer, project manager, construction manager, and engineering manager for four decades. He leads the Rokion engineering and service department in their efforts to design and continuously improve the extensive product line of battery electric vehicles.

Franck Boudreault leads Epiroc’s electrification journey in the role of Underground Applications Expert within the Underground division. Epiroc continues its innovation journey and constantly broadens its electrification solutions, reaching far beyond battery-electric vehicles. Boudreault’s role is to promote the use of batteries underground and help customers take the step and move away from fossil fuels, while improving work conditions and boosting productivity, addressing common GHG emissions target. Boudreault has 30 years of experience with Epiroc in different positions within R&D, Marketing and Sales. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering from McGill University, Canada.

Cristian Cancino is the Business Line Manager for Digital Solutions at Epiroc South America Cone, where he plays a pivotal role in driving digital transformation across the mining sector. With a strong background in metallurgical engineering and a Master’s degree in Technology end Entrepreneurship from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Cristian brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to the evolving landscape of sustainable and electrified mining. At Epiroc, Cristian leads initiatives that integrate digital and automation solutions – helping mining operations become not only more efficient and safer but also more environmentally responsible. His work focuses on leveraging real-time data, automation and connectivity to accelerate the transformation toward zero-emission, digitally optimised mines. Kishore Jeebodh leads Epiroc’s Electrification business in the Southern Africa Region, driving the transition toward sustainable mining through Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). He spearheads a dedicated team that supports both customers and the broader Epiroc organization in achieving operational readiness for electrification solutions. His team’s focus includes BEV implementation support and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring customers realize the full value and sustainability benefits of electric mining equipment. With over a decade of experience in the mining industry, Kishore brings deep technical and strategic insight to his role. His career has encompassed leadership positions in Autonomous Haulage, Collision Avoidance Systems Development, Fleet Management, and Project Management.

Mario Ortiz has over 17 years of experience and comprehensive understanding of the mining value chain, including international assignments. He has been with Teck for over a decade, and among his leadership roles, he was Director of Integrated Operations, where he played a key role in the success of Teck’s state-of-the-art Integrated Operations Center in Santiago. He is currently Deputy General Manager of Teck’s Quebrada Blanca operation, where his responsibilities include ensuring that production, maintenance, quality control, cost, and safety objectives are met through an integrated operations model, coordinating efforts between IO, maintenance, and operations teams.

Since 2021, Dr. Fabiana Cavalcante has been leading the Mobile e-Power business of ABB’s Traction division. Her business is dedicated to the supply of complete onboard electric systems (drives, motors, batteries, on-board chargers) and solutions for mining vehicles, construction vehicles, electric buses, and other dedicated electrically driven vehicles. Throughout her extensive career with ABB, she has held several other managerial roles in R&D, Product Management and Sales. Dr. Cavalcante also spent some time with the Swiss Federal Office of Transport where she led the Approval and Rules Section. She also has broad experience in the field of standards and regulations and since 2008 has served as an international standardization expert for IEC and CENELEC. Dr. Cavalcante holds a PhD in Power Elec-tronics from ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

Sello Taku, is a Manager Engineering at Assmang – Black Rock Mine Operations. He is responsible for heading engineering teams, operating in 3 underground shafts, including surface plants. Part of Sello’s responsibilities, is to ensure compliance with regards to carbon reduction milestone, part of which, included introduction and implementation of Battery Electric Vehicles. He is an Electrical Engineer by profession and has more than 20 years of experience in mining industry.

Mining professional with 15 years of experience. Specialized in underground mining, focused on the construction, development, production, and infrastructure of underground mining operations. I´m trained to manage and integrate large groups of people. I am a professional focused on delivering positive results always from a safety perspective, seeking to innovate and improve processes. Patricio is a mining engineer with over 10 years of experience in mine design and planning, specializing in both open-pit and underground operations. He holds postgraduate studies in mineral and energy economics. Patricio is a member of the Hatch Global Mining Team, a group of professionals that has been involved in several mine electrification and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) implementation studies over the past few years.

Richard Kraemer is the Haulage Electrification Solutions Manager at Liebherr Mining Equipment. He works with mining customers to help them achieve their mining truck decarbonization targets. With over 13 years of experience spanning mining engineering, sales support and surface operations, Richard plays a key role in developing battery and dynamic power transfer solutions to support zero-emission haulage. He holds a degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Virgina Tech.

Dedicated Mechanical and Civil Engineer with over 20 years of experience. Strong practical and technical skills and invaluable experience of successfully overseeing and completing projects from conception to completion/start up-operation. My career has led me to specialise increasingly in the management of complex multi-cultural projects and their staffs at international levels. I have experience in: strategic forward-planning; operating within the tight financial disciplines imposed by ambitious budgets which I have helped to plan; methodical administration to deadlines and the application of modern leadership methods. The main roles performed are related to engineering, project planning, scheduling, control, budget analysis, cost trending, contract formation and contract coordination for EPC & EPCM Projects during all the phases of project development.

Lucas is a technologist with strong business grounding and experience managing international, distributed teams to get things done. His goal is to improve safety, productivity and environmental impact of mining, a critical requirement for a world of 9 billion people. He has been with Modular Mining, now Komatsu’s Modular ecosystem, for over 19 years with previous roles including Director of Product Strategy and Manager – Technology & Innovation. He began his mining career in the 1990s at Mount Isa Mines.

Anthony Cook is currently Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Surface Haulage Business Unit within Komatsu Mining Technologies. He is responsible for leading and executing the sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth and market share expansion globally for the Electric Dump Truck (EDT) products. He holds a bachelor’s in mining engineering from Ballarat University and an MBA in Technology Management from Deakin University, Australia.

Prior to this position, Anthony was Vice President of Autonomous Systems in the Mining Technology Division for Komatsu Mining and was responsible for Global AHS business covering strategy, sales, and support for autonomous mining products. Anthony was instrumental in bringing the Komatsu AHS system into the commercial market in 2008 and expanding it to where it is today at over 850+ trucks and moving more than 10 billion tons.

His career at Komatsu began in April of 1998 as a Mining Engineer in Australia with Modular Mining Systems which is a technology division specializing in real-time fleet management and optimization. He moved to Tucson Arizona in 2000 and has worked in various positions leading up to Vice President of Business Development before focusing on the autonomous business in 2008.

Orlando Meneses is a Mechanical Civil Engineer graduated with distinction from the University of Chile plus has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). He has extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors. He has more than 15 years of experience in the mining and energy industry – he led the team that introduced electric mobility in Chile back in 2011 and since then has overseen the deployment of numerous public and mining electric transportation equipment. 

Will is an energetic and dedicated mechanical engineer and takes satisfaction in solving problems, building relationships, and successfully navigating high pressure situations. He has been with Komatsu for more than three years, initially as a Design Engineer and then Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicle Development Engineer and before his current role as GHG Alliance Project Manager. Before joining Komatsu he was a Design Engineer with Honda.

Specialising in energy management and electrical engineering related aspects of heavy industry (primarily mining) and electric utilities. My experience provides me with a unique insight with respect to the technical, financial, regulatory, and environmental issues associated with the delivery of electric energy to large industrial customers, from the acquisition of fuels, the conversion of chemical and renewable energy into electrical energy, and the delivery of that energy over complex transmission grids to customers.

Sylvain is passionate about communication, with a rich experience, from both agency and in-house, in leading, developing and implementing creative and impactful communication strategies and campaigns. He describes himself as a strategic and creative thinker, with a positive and self-driven mind. He is also an energetic and can-do team player, and a fast and growth-oriented learner. He has been instrumental in advancing ABB’s eMine™ campaign, which makes the all-electric mine possible with purposeful approach, proven methods, electrification & digital systems – all integrated from mine to port.

Suina Chahuán Kim holds a Degree in Law from the Universidad de Chile, a Diploma in Public Economic Law from the Faculty of Law at the Universidad de Chile and a Diploma in Social Policy from the Faculty of Economics at the same university. She has worked as chief of staff in the Economy, Development and Tourism Ministry, and as a legislative advisor in the National Congress, between 2019 and 2022, in the Education Ministry and in the Financial Analysis Unit at the Treasury Ministry. She has also worked as an associate lawyer in various institutions. She is an independent.
